Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara

The Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara is located in South-East Sardinia. It covers an area of 86 km2, extending from Capo Boi to Capo Carbonara and includes the islets of Cavoli and Serpentara.
Within the protected area there is the Notteri pond, which is home to flamingos, gulls, shearwaters and gray partridges. It is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of sand.

Punta La Guardia, the southern part of the island of Serpentara, is frequently visited by dolphins. With a little luck they can be spotted in the early hours of the morning or at sunset.

Fishing is prohibited everywhere, while bathing is permitted in some areas. There are many boat excursions to the Protected Marine Area, some of which start from the very beach of Le Zagare. The tour is suitable for the whole family: it is a fantastic occasion to spend a whole day sailing a wonderful sea. You will have a walk at the Island of Cavoli and discover some beautiful coves and beaches. At noon you will have a lovely lunch with fresh seafood.
