Villasimius, South Sardinia

The town of Villasimius is located on the southeastern tip of Sardinia, near the Gulf of Carbonara. Carbonara was also the name of this town, founded in 1812, later changed to Villasimius in 1862. For decades, the towns economy is based on the cultivation of wheat and almond trees and on the extraction of granite. At the beginning of the 900’s a coastal road was built that connects the town center with the city of Cagliari. Since the '60s, thanks to the great beauty of its coastline, Villasimius has become a tourist attraction, whose importance is growing year by year.
From the sea to the mountains of the hinterland are so many beautiful experienceses offered by this area. Do not miss a boat trip in the waters of the Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara, an excursion by jeep or hiking in the beautiful mountains of the Sette Fratelli park.

The beaches are of course the main attraction of this stretch of coast. For example, the long and wide Simius beach, or its continuation called Porto Giunco, also called the Two Seas Beach due to the large Notteri lake that lies behind the beach. Then there is the Spiaggia del Riso, which takes its name from the smooth pebbles on it. The Punta Molentis beach, is a spit of land which plunges into a crystal clear sea. Continuing along the coast we reach Calasinzias and Costa Rei where there are countless beaches and coves that are well worth a visit. A rental car can be the perfect solution for those wishing to explore this paradise.
